Our services will help you get the most out of your time at the Recreation Centre. Our friendly staff are highly qualified and always willing to help.
Personal trainers will help you achieve your goals faster and more effectively by providing motivation, direction and exercise structure on a more personal basis compared to our other services.
Personal training is a highly individualised service maximising the effectiveness of every exercise session. Our personal trainers can also help you with nutrition, fitness testing, and body composition analysis.
We also have small group training programmes where trainers help you towards your fitness goals. For more information, read about Group training.
We can design a programme specific to your goals in a one-hour session with a gym instructor.

A full fitness assessment includes the following components:

Gym-formation Seminar
Aimed at those with no or little gym experience, providing basic exercise theory and a programme to get started. This is an easy introduction to help boost your confidence in being in the gym environment.

This is a basic nutrition presentation to help you manage your diet and eating plan.

This involves taking a restricted ISAK profile (skin folds, girth and bone breadth measurements) and is suited to those with specific training goals to monitor changes in body composition. This session takes 40 minutes including consultation.
Payment must be made prior to your booking. You can make your payment at the Reception Desk on level 3 (Symonds Street entrance).
To make your booking, visit the instructors' desk in the weights gym on level 1. You can only make a booking in person. Phone or internet bookings are unavailable.
