The Recreation Centre contains a weights room, cardio room, express circuit room, core and stretch training room, sports hall, indoor climbing wall, squash court and dance studio.

Climbing wall

Experience the most adventurous workout you can have indoors on our state-of-the-art climbing wall.

The wall has over 150 square metres of climbing surface, and a variety of routes to cater for everyone – from the first-timer to the seasoned pro.

Please note that the climbing wall is currently available for bouldering only. No top roping or lead climbing is permitted.

The University of Auckland Recreation Centre climbing wall is proudly supported by Bivouac Outdoor.

You can book the dance studio. Due to popular demand, the days and times you request may not be available. If you're a member of the Recreation Centre, there is no charge.

Express circuit

The circuit includes both resistance and aerobic training equipment, and is designed to work the entire body, focusing on the major muscle groups.

A buzzer sounds each minute, at which time every circuit user must move to the next machine. This means you never have to wait for a machine.

Leisure centre

Take a break and play some table tennis!

The leisure centre has a dedicated area set up for table tennis. Anyone can use this area on a casual basis: members and non-members alike.

You can hire balls and bats at the reception desk on level 3.

Sports hall

Features
The sports hall features a fully-sprung 32m x 24m wooden floor, which is slightly larger than two full-size basketball courts.

Equipment
You can hire a range of sporting equipment from Reception on level 3.

Bookings
If you're a member, you can book court space using your ID cards and the computer booking system next to Reception on level 3. If you're a casual user, you can use the facilities but not the booking system. Bookings take priority over casual use.

Please note that during semesters, a number of activities limit the ability to book between 12-2pm and after 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Squash Court

The court on level one can be advance booked by members. Booking can be made at the terminals next to the Reception counter on level 3. The court can also be used casually, though member bookings take precedence.

Please note that the Recreation Centre also has an agreement with Auckland Squash Centre, where students and staff of the University of Auckland can join on an off-peak plan at discounted rates.
