What happens if I forget or lose my membership card?
You must bring your membership card with you or another form of official photo identification, eg, drivers licence or passport. Failure to produce adequate identification will mean you will not be able to enter.
How do I book court space?
If you're a member, you can book court space using your ID card on the computer booking terminals at reception.
- Scan your ID card on the booking terminal.
- Select the activity that you want to book.
- Scroll through the timetable to find an available space.
- Book your court space. You can book up to six days in advance.
You can only book with your own ID card. Using another members card to book space is prohibited and will result in your booking rights and membership being revoked.
You are not permitted to make bookings on behalf of other members including your friends. For your booking to be valid you must be present for the booking.
How do I book a consultation, programme, assessment or seminar?
Fitness programmes, assessments and seminars are not included in the cost of your membership. However the Group Fitness classes are free for all members. See Group Fitness.
To arrange a consultation for a fitness programme, assessments or seminar contact one of our friendly staff members at the reception on level 3 of the Recreation Centre. Various seminars are offered through the year and are a very cheap way to learn more about heath and fitness. The current seminar timetable can be viewed at the Health and Fitness Instructor's desk. For more information and prices, see Health and fitness services.
You can book into seminars by talking to an instructor at the instructors desk in the Health and Fitness Studio. You will need your ID card in order to book a seminar and will be given a card with the details of your appointment on it. Seminars can be arranged around your timetable.
If you need to cancel your appointment please advise us in advance and we will rebook you or reinstate your credit, otherwise your credit will be forfeited.
Why can't I wear jeans, jandals or sandals in the Health and Fitness Studio?
We want you to be safe while using the Recreation Centre.
Denim and open-toed shoes are unsuitable for the Health and Fitness Studio due to Occupational Health and Safety regulations issued by the Department of Labour.
Denim is a tough fabric that is not flexible. It can restrict movement, which will affect technique and put you at risk of injury. Everyone in the Health and Fitness Studio must wear a fully enclosed shoe to protect the foot from damage in the event of an accident.
Towels are also required at all times in the Health and Fitness Studio and all Group Fitness classes including pilates and yoga.

Judges’ comments on Brent Edwards
This is the first year that a Zumba® Fitness instructor has entered the awards and Brent was one of many Zumba® Fitness instructors to enter. Zumba® Fitness instruction is unique as a group exercise format in that communication occurs non-verbally using body language, energy and expression: aspects our specialist judges agreed Brent demonstrated at award winning level.
